FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medical equipment, namely devices used in traumatology and orthopaedics. A device consists of a four-sided pin and comprises a T-handle for introducing the pin into the intramedullary canal of the femoral bone and removing it from the bone, and two caps for the proximal end of the four-sided pin end - lesser and greater. The caps are cone-edged for driving into the bone and bringing through a top of the greater trochanter. The lesser cap is used if a proximal fragment of the femoral bone can be maximally adducted with a small internal rotation normally adequate to specify the right direction of the four-sided pin. The greater cap is bent uniformly and used in case of a risk of the four-sided pin escape through a base of the greater trochanter instead of its top. The four-sided pin through two distal one-thirds has a long split to form two diverged elastic blades with a divergent width exceeding the diameter of the four-sided pin in 1.5-2.5 times. A proximal end of the four-sided pin has an external thread, on the T-handle and both caps - and a matched internal thread. On both ends of the pin and on both caps, there is a position slot. The position slots on both ends of the four-sided pin and on both caps enables rotating the four-sided pin to position it correctly, and screwing the caps down using a Buiallsky's spatula introduced into the position slot.
EFFECT: invention provides higher effectiveness and reduced length of treating the patients suffering shaft fractures of the femoral bones.
