FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: sulphur is obtained via direct catalytic oxidation of hydrogen sulphide with oxygen in two or more steps while removing the reaction heat from the catalyst volume. Initial oxidation steps are carried out at 250-300°C and volume rate of 12000-36000 s-1, and the final oxidation step is carried out at 250-280°C and volume rate of 900-3600 s-1. Hydrogen sulphide-containing gas is fed to the first oxidation step and oxygen-containing gas is fed to each oxidation step, wherein the oxygen-containing gas is fed to the final oxidation step in stoichiometric ratio of oxygen to hydrogen sulphide.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain sulphur from highly concentrated gases and reduces power consumption.
