SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chewing toys and treats for pets and to methods for manufacture and application of chewing pet toys. The chewing toy contains a core containing an edible material, a shell enclosing the core and an external layer enclosing the shell. The core contains an edible material including at least one ingredient selected from the group consisting of milled raw hide, vegetal flour, animal digest, peanut oil and their combinations. The shell contains a material selected from among raw hide, bioplastic or their combinations where the bioplastic is selected from among the group consisting of extruded rice, extruded maize, extruded millet, extruded wheat or their combinations. The external layer contains an edible component selected from among grain or a combination of grain and milled raw hide, additionally containing a material applied for the material moistening in the process of manufacture and selected from the group consisting of maltodexrins, palatability enhancement agents or their combinations.
EFFECT: group of inventions ensures extension of the chewing toy service life, increases duration of the pet-s occupation with the chewing toy and improves the pet's health status and well-being.
