METHOD OF APPROACHING SPINAL CANAL FOR CONSTRICTIVE LESION OF LUMBOSACRAL SPINE Russian patent published in 2014 - IPC A61B17/00

Abstract RU 2508909 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention concerns medicine, particularly neurosurgery. What is involved is a unilateral skeletonisation of an interspinous space in a projection of a constrictive lesion depending on its lateralisation. That is followed by a transspinal approach to the spinal column by sawing off a base of a spinous process in the contralateral direction in an oblique horizontal plane. A microsurgical repair of the spinal canal is performed with preserving an opposite outer wall of the spinal canal and facet joints from both sides. A hypertrophied portion of a yellow ligament is dissected and incised on the side of the constrictive lesion up to a dural sac with preserving adjacent ligaments - supraspinal and interspinous. When repairing a posterior wall of the spinal canal, a stump of the spinous process is fixed to a musculo-ligamentous apparatus on the operated side.

EFFECT: method enables providing the decompression and stabilisation in the operated spine with a minimal operated wound.
