FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: porous calcium carbonate particles are formed from the reaction CaCl2+2NaHCO3→CaCO3↓+2NaCl+2H+, wherein an aqueous solution of quantum dots, modified with an excess amount of mercaptoacetic having concentration of 0.05-4 mg/ml, is added to 0.3 M NaHCO3 solution while stirring intensely. The obtained suspension which contains porous calcium carbonate particles with inserted quantum dots is washed 1-3 times with water and once with ethanol, while treating with ultrasound after each washing. The obtained particles are then coated with polyethyleneimine or 6 layers of water-soluble polyelectrolytes from a series which includes diethylaminoethyl-dextran, chitosan, carrageenan.
EFFECT: shorter time for producing porous calcium carbonate particles with 100% inserted quantum dots.
