FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a sorbing composition and methods of removing mercury from streams of waste flue gases. The composition for reducing mercury emissions contains an enclosed organic substance and a sorbent, wherein the TNO value of the composition is 10°C higher than that of the sorbent. The method of reducing mercury emissions from streams of waste flue gases involves feeding the composition, in one of the versions, into a stream of waste flue gases and, in the other, into burnt fuel before and/or during combustion of the fuel.
EFFECT: invention provides a cost effective method of minimising mercury emissions formed when burning coal and other types of fuel.
