FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to sorption gas purification. Method for purification of mercury-containing gas flow includes contact of gas flow with sorbent before passing of device for collection of solid particles. Used sorbent contains composition, which includes compound of the following formula (SiO2)x(OH)yMzSa, where M represents metal or metalloid cation, S stands for sulphur-containing group, selected from the following substances: sulphide salt and salts of polysulphides, with 0.01-100% of specific area of compound surface being covered with functionalised organosilane or sulphur-containing organosilane. Molar ratio y/x in compound constitutes 0.01-0.5, molar ratio x/z constitutes 3-300 and molar ratio a/z constitutes 1-5.
EFFECT: invention provides effective purification of gas flow from mercury.
