FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: carbon felt, having electron conductivity, is metal coated in any standard electrolyte with asymmetrical alternating current with ratio of amplitude of cathode and anode current pulses γ and ratio of duration of cathode and anode pulses τ determined separately for each type of electrolyte and carbon felt using a two-factor experiment in the ranges γ=1.1-5 and τ=0.1-0.9 respectively; the average value of the asymmetrical alternating current is selected in accordance with requirements of the electrolyte used; frequency of the asymmetrical alternating current can assume any value in the range from 1 Hz to 100 kHz.
EFFECT: simple process of making porous electrodes, reducing consumption of required materials by eliminating unstable steps of activation and chemical metal coating of the felt base, high quality of electrodes made, creating different profiles of metal coating on the depth of porous electrodes.
