FIELD: weapons and ammunition.
SUBSTANCE: half-finished receiver is heated in stagnant argon by 35-55°C above alpha to gamma phase transition temperature to 760-780°C at 25-30°C per minute rate, then is matured for 35-40 minutes and cooled down in argon flow at a rate not exceeding 25°C per minute.
EFFECT: enhanced shooting reliability of small arms, including in emergency situations, due to receiver metal structure stabilisation and reduction of residual stress by high-temperature annealing of half-finished small arms receiver out of martensite ageing steel.
