FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electric engineering and electrochemistry and refers to cathode material for water-activable standby batteries, which are mainly used for power supply of meteorological radiosondes, pilot-balloons, marine signal devices, life-saving equipment, buoys, emergency beacons. Cathode material is suggested for water-activable standby battery based on alkali metal vanadium oxide bronze, at that alkali metal vanadium oxide bronze is represented by bronze with composition of Na1.1V2O5·1.2H2O and additional copper chloride (II) CuCl2·2H2O and/or copper sulphate CuSO4·6H2O with the following ratio of components in wt %: alkali metal vanadium oxide bronze - 83.3÷52.6, copper (II) sulphate and/or chloride - 47.4÷16.7, at that mixing of components is made by fine wet milling in presence of water and/or alcohol, e.g., ethanol.
EFFECT: development of cathode material composition characterised by high and stable discharge voltage, low rate of discharge and high temperature of self-heating.
