FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method of obtaining compound of formula I 
, where R represents H, alkyl, substituted or non-substituted phenyl. Method is realised by interaction of compound II with bromine in organic solvent with obtaining respective derivative III, which is subjected to reaction with methoxymethylchloride (MOM-Cl) in organic solvent in presence of organic base to obtain compound of formula IV. After that, compound IV reacts with R-CH=CH-CH2-Br in organic solvent with magnesium and ethylbromide with obtaining compound V, which leads to obtaining compound I after removal of protective group by means of respective agent. Invention also relates to method of obtaining magnolol and intermediate compound V by claimed method.
EFFECT: improved methods of obtaining compounds of formula I.
