SUBSTANCE: invention relates to data transmission in an power system. A data transmission channel is monitored based on regular network traffic, i.e. using estimation messages or data packets bearing real-time operational data such as useful content. Constant determination of channel quality, which includes sampling a corresponding alarm signal when channel quality is defined as insufficient, is based on estimation, in a receiving node, of data packets constantly transmitted by the receiving node. Such constantly or retransmitted data packets may contain identical payloads which reflect the current state instead of change in state as operational data.
EFFECT: high transmission efficiency.
