FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medical laboratory analysis, analytical instrumentation engineering. The emission is delivered onto the skin in one or more points at wavelengths characteristic for the absorption of bilirubin, haemoglobin and its derivatives. A scattered emission intensity is measured at one or more distances from the points of emission delivery. The bilirubin concentration values are determined from an analytical expressions relating the same to diffuse scattering coefficient determined from the measured scattered emission intensities.
EFFECT: method enables increasing the accuracy of determining the bilirubin concentration by eliminating the effect of varying biophysical parameters of the skin and contact of the skin and device, avoiding calibration measurements, as well as simplifying the measure procedures and managing without calibration measurements.
