URANIUM AND PLUTONIUM EXTRACTION METHOD Russian patent published in 2014 - IPC G21C19/46

Abstract RU 2513040 C2

FIELD: physics, atomic power.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to nuclear power engineering, particularly to the field of processing spent nuclear fuel, and can be used in processing spent nuclear fuel. In the present invention, extraction of uranium and plutonium into a solution of tributyl phosphate in an inert solvent is carried out in two consecutive steps, the first of which is carried out in an over-the-limit mode, and the aqueous stream formed, which contains 15-50% of the sum of extracted elements, is treated at the second step with an additional stream of a recycled extractant in complete element extraction mode. Organic streams obtained after the first treatment and after the second treatment are merged and the merged stream is fed for the next operations.

EFFECT: achieving higher coefficients of purification of desired components from fission products and reducing the amount of radioactive wastes.
