SUBSTANCE: invention relates to armament of submarines. The method to protect a submarine consists in detection and definition of angular coordinates in the mode of noise direction-finding of the torpedo, its classification, generation of firing data, firing a device carrying reactive projectiles, launch of reactive projectiles as the device approaches the estimated point. Epicentres of projectile explosions are evenly distributed, eliminating formation of unaffected areas, in the volume of the limited water space formed around the previously estimated point of meeting of the device and the torpedo, by arrangement of curtains from power field of explosions of reactive projectiles on the way of torpedo moving in the solid angle facing with its top the submarine and limited by the truncated conical surface with the axis of symmetry that matches the direction towards the source of noise. The torpedo is radiated by a probing signal with the help of a transmitting antenna, and the signal reflected from it is received by at least two narrow-directed partial antennas, acoustic axes of which are turned in the direction-finding plane by the angle approximately equal to the width of the main tab of the directional characteristic of the antenna. The form the sum and difference of signals received by antennas, the total signal is used to determine distance to the torpedo, and the difference one - to confirm its angular coordinates.
