FIELD: testing equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to testing equipment, in particular, to methods of inertial tests of worm gears, and may be used for their investigation for energy efficiency. The substance of the invention consists in the fact that an output shaft of an electric motor is connected to an input shaft of a worm gear via a connection coupling, and the moment of inertia of the worm gear is identified as the ratio of product of the difference of angular acceleration of the system of rotary masses "electric motor, connection coupling" and angular acceleration of the system of rotary masses "electric motor, connection coupling, worm gear" for the amount of the sum of the moment of inertia of the electric motor and the moment of inertia of the connection coupling to angular acceleration of the system of rotary masses "electric motor, connection coupling, worm gear".
EFFECT: possibility to determine moment of inertia of a worm gear with account of forces of friction and wear of gear elements.
