SUBSTANCE: method of operating the dishwasher comprising a washing tank accommodating articles to be washed, as well as a pressure pump for circulating washing liquid inside the washing tank, at that the machine is equipped with several washing programs chosen by the user, which include a number of successive steps, such as water supply, preliminary washing, washing, rinsing, soaking, water draining and drying. According to the method, the washing programs include the first washing program during the execution of which the pressure pump is operated at a rated speed, and the second washing program during the execution of which, when the pressure pump is switched on, it operates at a speed lower than the rated speed, and in which there is at least one soaking step during which the pressure pump is switched off.
