FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: substrate is produced from a meshed foamed material, having at least one first surface for formation of the external lateral side of the filter and two opposite second surfaces for formation of external sides of the filter, through which the flow passes. Liquid is applied, containing a component of organic coating, into the first surface. The organic coating component is hardened with formation of the intermediate product of the filter having the coating that may volatilise on the first surface. The intermediate product of the filter is impregnated with a suspension containing particles of fireproof material, a binding surface and a liquid carrier. Further they dry and anneal the impregnated intermediate product of the filter with formation of the filter having lateral sides with the closed surface.
