FIELD: radio engineering, communication.
SUBSTANCE: uplink synchronisation of user equipment (UE), served by a radio base station, is enabled by triggering/restart of a timing alignment (TA) timer in response to a first TA command. Uplink timing of data received from the UE during a measuring time window constituting a defined sub-interval of a time interval of the TA timer is measured and employed for determining a timing advance for the UE. Transmission of a second TA command comprising a notification of the timing advance is co-scheduled together with a scheduled downlink data transmission to the UE during the next scheduling time window constituting a defined sub-interval of the time interval.
EFFECT: number of TA commands that are scheduled by themselves are minimised to free radio resources and increase downlink throughput.
