FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: proposed method comprises reduction of metals and/or alloys in calcium-bearing oxide-halide melt from compounds of metals to be obtained and/or from mixes of metals of alloys to be produced. Electrolysis involves the application of inert oxygen-releasing anode. Note here that it is performed in the melt that contains, in wt %: 55-97 of CaCl2, 3-45 of CaF2 with addition of 1-22 mol. % CaO at cathode current density of at least 0.1 A/cm2 and anode current density of at least 1 A/cm2 and at 700-900°C.
EFFECT: non-polluting process owing to decreased release of chlorine at oxygen-releasing anode.
