FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method of selective lubricant manufacturing. Lubricant has viscosity 4.0 cSt at 100°C, volatility with weight loss by Noack less than 15%, viscosity index higher than 120, temperature of congelation lower than -50°C and viscosity at -40°C less than 3000 cSt. Method includes (a) reaction of the first alpha-olefin, excluding 1-decene, used for formation of vinylidene olefin, selected from the group consisting of linear 1-olefins C4-20 and their combinations, in presence of the first catalyst, which includes alkylaluminium catalyst, matallocene catalyst, catalyst based on late transition metal with bulky ligands and their combinations with formation of vinylidene olefin; (b) removal of said first olefin that did not react, with said vinylidene olefin having content of vinylidene at least 79%; (c) reaction of said vinylidene olefin with the second alpha-olefin, excluding 1-decene, selected from the group, consisting of linear 1-olefins C4-20 and their combinations, in presence of catalyst BF3 and promoter system, including mixture of at least one aprotic promoter with at least one protic promoter; (d) removal of residual monomers that did not react and removal of volatile liquids that did not react; (e) hydration of the bottom product with formation of lubricant; (h) separation of said lubricant. Lubricant is obtained without formation of other additional products, which are heavier than 4.0 cSt at 100°C.

EFFECT: selective manufacture of low-viscosity lubricant.
