In the method for control of rail vehicle combination drive, rail vehicle drive types associated with portions of line are predicatively determined via model using electronic train schedule. The model has computing device which is adapted. Then in the mode of motion, positional deviation of rail vehicle actual position from its target position. Based on positional deviation of position spare time is calculated. Depending on spare time active type of drive is retained or changed.
