SUBSTANCE: invention relates to rail vehicle control. Control method for rail vehicle containing double drive station, where each drive station contains internal combustion engine and transfer unit in which target driving torque is set as desired power. Also, real driving torque of rail vehicle is determined, driving torque deviation is calculated from target driving torque and real driving torque. Then the forecasted type of drive is determined, and depending on driving torque deviation, as well as on predictable drive type, single or double drive, operating point and drive stage for transfer units are set using traction control device.
