FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: method involves magnetic resonant brain imaging in patients complaining of pains within an innervation of one, two or three branches of the trifacial nerve with included pulse sequences, and angiography. A distance between the upper cerebellar artery and a root of the trifacial nerve is measured. If the measured distance makes 2 to 0 mm with no deformation of the root of the trifacial nerve observed, a neurovascular contact exists. This case requires performing a puncture destruction of the sensitive root of the trifacial nerve in a trigerminal cistern. If there is no distance between the upper cerebellar artery and the root of the trifacial nerve, the deformation of the root of the trifacial nerve is observed, and a neurovascular conflict is stated. In this case, a microvasculatory decompression of the root of the trifacial nerve is performed.
EFFECT: method reduces the length of treatment and prolongs remission.
