FIELD: transport.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to cargo-carrying machine, in particular to log forwarder. The machine includes front rack assembly connected with machine frame. The front rack assembly includes immovable shield which is pivotally connected with frame, as well as movable shield being in sliding engagement with the immovable shield. Linear actuator pivotally connects movable shield with frame using the first and the second pin joints. Linear actuator pushes the movable shield out and in relative to immovable shield when front rack assembly is in operative position. Linear actuator is additionally made capable to selectively tilt the front rack assembly relative to frame when the front rack assembly is in service position. Proposed method of machine employment comprises the following stages: creation of arm of force couple tending to rotate front rack assembly relative to frame when force is applied to front rack assembly by linear actuator; limiting rotational motion of front rack assembly relative to frame when front rack assembly is in operative position; pushing out the movable shield relative to immovable shield due to moving-out of linear actuator when front rack assembly is in operative position; pushing in the movable shield relative to immovable shield due to moving-in of linear actuator when front rack assembly is in operative position.

EFFECT: better cargo visibility for operator, easier access to various systems and components of forwarder during maintenance works.
