FIELD: physics, computer engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a display device and a method of controlling the display device. The display device includes: scanning lines, signalling data lines, a source forming circuit for controlling the signalling data lines, a gate forming circuit for controlling scanning lines and a pixel circuit which corresponds to each intersection of scanning lines and signalling data lines, wherein each pixel contains an emitting element for emitting light whose brightness depends on current fed to the emitting element; the scanning line selection period is a period during which the gate forming circuit selects that scanning line. Said display device further includes a pixel-by-pixel circuit for each pixel configured for control in pulsed mode wherein the emitting element emits light only in the selection period, or in storage mode wherein the emitting element emits light after the selection period, wherein control in pulsed mode is carried out for low brightness levels, and in storage mode - for upper brightness levels.
EFFECT: easier control of brightness level and longer service life of the device.
