FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical engineering. In the device adjustment of reactive power is carried out by switching of two or more branches, each of them is equipped with a switch for connection to the supply mains and includes capacitor banks, resistors and chokes performing functions of filtration and compensation. The device contains also one or more active elements. The capacitor banks of the device are connected to the ground through a common active element by the respective quantity of medium-voltage switches or through separate active elements and they perform the function of compensation only. The filtration functions are performed by one active element only; to this end in addition to a common set of functional units the active element balancing system is equipped with three programmable specific functional units: damping unit D, balancing unit B, unit S of selective harmonic suppression which generate driving voltages, and sum of the latter ones forms the main variable for control of the converter.

EFFECT: use of single-type replaceable capacitor banks, non-availability of energy-dissipating resistors and the preset resonance circuits.
