FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of organic synthesis, namely to a method of obtaining 2(5H)-furanone, which is used as a semi-product for obtaining organic compounds, growth regulators, plasticisers, physiologically active substances, antimicrobial pharmaceutical preparations. The claimed method consists in an interaction of furfural with hydrogen peroxide under conditions of electrochemical anode synthesis with application of graphite electrodes at 40-60°C, current intensity 0.03 A, in a medium of a water solution of alkali metal perchlorate, with a molar ratio of furfural, hydrogen peroxide and electrolyte 1.0:(1.0-2.0):0.01 respectively, with further separation of the target product by extraction with carbon tetrachloride from a reaction mixture.
EFFECT: simplification of the process, increase of ecological and fire safety of the process, reduction of hydrogen peroxide consumption, elimination of energy consumption for mixing the reaction mixture, elimination of necessity to apply metal-containing catalysts, which contaminate the final product and in this way make its preparative isolation more difficult.
