FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: method consists in detecting shortening of a relative length of telomeres on single chromosomes of peripheral blood T-lymphocytes by means of quantitative fluorescence in situ hybridisation (Q-FISH). The result telomere length is calculated as a mean fluorescence intensity of the telomeres of the single chromosome (for each arm separately) related to a mean fluorescence of the telomeres of all chromosomes in a metaphase. Shortening of the relative length of the telomeres on a short arm of the 4th chromosome in patients with rheumatoid arthritis as compared to donors is considered as a marker of developing the disease.
EFFECT: invention enables adequate information value and specificity of determining a risk of developing of the autoimmune pathology of the given type.
