FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: sextant has a fan-shaped frame with a limb, a half small transparent mirror placed on the frame, an alidade with an axis of rotation perpendicular to the plane of the limb, a large mirror placed on the alidade, an angle reading-locking device of the alidade, an optical tube and auxiliary components. The large mirror is provided with an axis of rotation lying in the plane of said mirror parallel to the plane of the limb and is provided with an angle reading-locking device. The optical tube is provided with a liquid level gauge.
EFFECT: enabling simultaneous and direct measurement of height difference and azimuth difference of two stellar bodies without measuring height and azimuths thereof.
