SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of opening a cigarette casing, which comprises cutting the cigarette transported in a guiding chute of the machine feeder to extract tobacco from damaged and/or defective cigarettes, at that the cigarettes are cut at least with one revolving disc knife located above the feeder, in which at least one rotating circular knife is applied to the cigarette such that the axis, on which the said disc knife is perpendicular mounted lies in a plane parallel to the plane in which the axis of the cigarette extends; at that the plane of the disk knife does not contain the cigarette axis and is parallel to the said axis of cigarette, the cigarette rotation around its axis in the guiding chute is blocked, as a result the in the cigarette casing tensile stress is created which facilitates its opening.
EFFECT: technical result is to ensure separation of the paper casing from the rest components of the cigarette.
