SUBSTANCE: invention relates to processing polymers and composites, particularly hydrophobisation thereof. The method of producing a protective hydrophobic coating on polymer material includes treating the surface of the polymer material with an oligo(organo)alkoxysiloxane solution. After solvent removal, the surface is treated with alkyl bromide solution, followed by solvent removal. The oligo(organo)alkoxysiloxane used is deca(aminopropyl)dodecaethoxydecasiloxane of structural formula in amount of 0.3·10^-4-0.4·10^-4 mol per 1 cm² surface. The alkyl bromide used is either butyl bromide of formula (C₄H₉Br), or octyl bromide of formula C₈H₁₇Br, or oxadecyl bromide of formula C₁₈H₃₇Br in amount of 0.8·10^-4-0.94·10^-4 mol per 1 cm² surface.

EFFECT: high degree of hydrophobisation of material, characterised by increase in limiting wetting angle of the surface by at least 34-78°C.
