SUBSTANCE: method comprises measuring the angle of arrival of an electromagnetic wave (bearing) αmeas(t) from an object from one measuring point, the position of which is known, wherein signals emitted by the object include an identification code thereof; while emitting the signal, measuring at the object, the velocity νmeas of said signal along a road network element; encoding a signal that is proportional to the measured velocity and transmitting the obtained code over a radio link to the measuring point where, after receiving and decoding, a value of the measured velocity is obtained; after a time Δt, re-measuring the bearing αmeas(t+Δt), with identification thereof from the identification code of the object; determining the length of the path Δe=Δtνmeas traversed over time Δt; based on the measured bearing αmeas(t) and parametric models of the bearing αi(e), i = 1, I ¯ , given in the function of a natural parameter, for each road network element, determining the values of the natural parameter e i * , i = 1, I ¯ , corresponding to points of intersection of the position line for the measured bearing αmeas(t) and the road network element; for each of said elements, determining bearing candidates α i ( e i * + Δ e ) , i = 1, I ¯ , corresponding to movement of the object by a distance Δe, and determining the number i* of road network elements on which the object is located based on the condition of minimal mismatch between said candidates and the measured bearing αmeas(t+Δt); determining coordinates of the object as coordinates of the point of intersection of the position line corresponding to the measured bearing (αmeas(t) or αmeas(t+Δt)) and the i*-th road network element.

EFFECT: unique determination of a mobile object associated with a road network.
