SUBSTANCE: method includes combined processing of two consecutive bearing measurements (azimuth angles to a target β1 and β2) and signal power values Ps1 and Ps2, received by a self-contained radial system for the considered measurement times t1, t2, taking into account that the measurement base point corresponds to the geometric centre of the self-contained radial system, and a line T1TN - the trajectory of the target - corresponds to points T1 and T2 of measuring the bearing to the target at time t1 and t2, assuming that the target moves in a straight line, and then calculating the values: , performing two consecutive measurements of the received frequency f1, f2 at measurement time t1, t2 and, based on the measurements, determining the values and Δβ21=β2-β1, and then determining range to the target using the formula:
EFFECT: determining inclined range to a target moving in a straight line without prior data on the speed of the target.
