SURGICAL APPROACH TO LATERAL CONDYLE OF TIBIA FOR OSTEOSYNTHESIS IN FRACTURES Russian patent published in 2014 - IPC A61B17/00

SUBSTANCE: method is used for open reposition and internal fixation of fractures of the lateral condyle of the tibia (according to the Schatzker classification - I, II, III types of fractures) in adults. A surgical approach to the intra-articular fractures of the lateral condyle of the tibia is performed by incising soft tissues along the lateral surface of the knee joint 1 cm in the proximal direction from an apex of the head of the fibula and parallel with an articular line stopping 2 cm short of the patellar ligament. The approach is smoothly turned at an angle of 90-100° and extended in the distal direction in parallel with the anterior edge of the tibia. That is followed by subperiosteal retraction of the anterior group of the shin muscles, and a single full cutaneous-subcutaneous-fascial-muscular flap is brought backwards and laterally, then keeping it back, the knee arthrotomy, the facture reposition and fixation are performed. B-tricalcium phosphate osteoxenoplasty if considered to be necessary is performed.

EFFECT: method provides avoiding painful postoperative cicatrices and reducing the length of the knee arthroplasty by the optimum surgical approach.
