The method of applying grease material to the open friction joint consists in the fact that the grease material in the form of greasing bars is fed to a surface of the wheel flange at the angle of β applying force of F, which is sufficient to ensure a process of wearing the external shell of the grease material and its application to the wheel flange surface, at that $$\beta >arctg\frac{f_1}{P},$$ where f₁ is a greasing bar friction factor along a guide feeding the greasing bar to a surface to be greased, P is the greasing bar weight, while a relation of the bar section areas S₁ contacting with the surface to be greased to the area of the greased surface S₂ shall be selected from a relation 0 < S₁/S₂ ≤ 1.

EFFECT: full application of the grease material to the friction surface, the wheel flange, is ensured.
