SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in making a thin-film solar cell. The method of making a thin-film solar cell having a top layer and an underlying layer comprises depositing an underlying layer having surface roughness, and depositing a top layer over the underlying layer by chemical vapour deposition such that the top layer has a surface roughness greater than that of the underlying layer, where the underlying layer contains a mixture of oxides of at least two materials selected from silicon, titanium, zirconium, tin, aluminium, phosphorus and mixtures thereof, or where the underlying layer contains titanium oxide in an anatase modification with thickness in the range of 20 nm to 25 nm.
EFFECT: making a solar cell having improved light scattering properties.
