SUBSTANCE: central vein safest for puncture is localised; its diameter is measured; a desired dialysis catheter is specified an external diameter of which is less or equal to the vein diameter S. The vein is punctured with a flexula-type catheter needle with a mandrel a diameter of which is twice less than the dialysis catheter needle. The vein is punctured under the control of ultrasound to correct the direction and motion of the flexula-type catheter. After the flexula-type catheter penetrates into a venous bed, the mandrel is removed. The thin elastic flexula-type catheter remains in a vein lumen. Further, a smaller metallic guide is delivered along this catheter into the vein lumen according to Seldinger technique. Removing the first flexula is followed by dilation along the guide and inserting the second flexula of a greater diameter along the guide. Thereafter, a dialysis catheter guide is delivered therethrough into the venous bed according to Seldinger technique, and the greater flexula catheter is removed, while the dialysis catheter is inserted along the guide.

EFFECT: method enables low-traumatic, visually controlled central venous catheterisation using catheters of greater diameter in children by staged insertion of catheters of greater diameter.
