FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to ferrous metallurgy, particularly, to production of rail steel in oxygen converter. Proposed process comprises loading hard charge materials into converter, pouring liquid cast iron and blowing the melt by oxygen via tuyere. Note here previous fusion slag is left at converter bottom to add lime and magnesium-bearing materials thereto. After cast iron pouting in and the start of blowing, line and iron materials are added for 5-6 min into converter. Oxygen blowing is executed at tuyere position some 250-350 mm higher than working position for 7.5-9 min. Then, blowing is terminated to perform intermediate slag removal. Thereafter, oxygen blowing is resumed to add lime, iron ore materials and fluor-spar. Two-three minutes before termination of blowing, iron ore materials are fed portions of 1.0-1.5 kg/t. At termination of melt flushing, cover slag is made by adding the line and fluor-spar.
EFFECT: high durability of rails.
