FIELD: ferrous metallurgy oxygen converter process. SUBSTANCE: proposed method includes pouring molten cast iron, blowing the melt with oxygen till temperature of melt exceeds temperature of tapping carbon semi-product by magnitude determined from the following formula: t=33(Mn), where t is magnitude of excess of temperature of tapping carbon semi-product , C; (Mn) is amount of manganese reduced from manganese-containing oxide material, %. Then, maximum amount of oxidizing slag is removed from converter and mixture of manganese-containing slag-forming and carbon-containing materials are added in batches at ratio of 1: (0.18-0.20): (0.10-0.12), respectively. Mass of each batch is equal to 0.1-0.2 of mass of melt. In the course of addition of each batch, melt is mixed by swinging the converter relative to its vertical axis and swinging is stopped 0.5-1.0 min after delivery of last batch. Then, carbon semi-product is tapped to ladle. Used as carbon-containing material are coke, coal, silicon carbide, calcium carbide or their combination.
