SUBSTANCE: invention relates to lighting engineering. A solid-state illumination device comprises a heatsink having a first end located near a socket end, and a second end located between the first end and a solid-state emitter, wherein the width of at least part of the heatsink located between the first and second ends is greater than the width of the heatsink at the second end thereof. Such a heatsink with an unconventional inclination angle reduces light blocking. The heatsink can have fins and a heat pipe.
EFFECT: increasing light output near the socket of a LED lamp without blocking emission in lateral directions.
