SUBSTANCE: invention relates to reading a mark, such as a code, on the outer surface of curved glass made of transparent or translucent material. A method of using a light source (5), having an illumination surface (S), and a camera (6) with an optical axis (A) of observation, for analysing a code (2) on the outer surface (31) of curved glass (3) made of translucent or transparent material, includes: making the light source extended and uniform, such that: the extension of the virtual image (S′) of the illumination surface (S) of the light source (5) completely overlaps the surface of the code (2), and brightness of the virtual image (S′) of the illumination surface (S) of the light source (5) is uniform, and observing the surface of the code (2) through a camera with a photodetector array with a field of vision (C) selected to allow observation of at least the full area of the code superimposed on the surface of the virtual image (S′), while allowing analysis thereof.

EFFECT: providing reliable analysis of a mark deposited on the outer surface of curved glass made of transparent or translucent material.
