FIELD: electricity.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electrical engineering, magnetohydrodynamics, electromagnetic pumps, and can be used in metallurgy, in nuclear and nonconventional power engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical industry, and also in space industry. Magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) device includes channel, input and output branch pipes, magnetic system. The magnetic system is designed as a solid cylinder from the conductive material, end faces of which are connected by electrical wires to working electrodes, connected to the power supply. The working electrodes are built-in into branch pipes. In the first version of MHD device the internal wall of the channel is cylindrical, and external - conic with the slope angle α in the range from 0° up to 90°. The working electrodes are built-in into branch pipes. In the second version of MHD device external and internal wall of the channel are cylindrical, and the function of one pair of electrodes is performed by the channel walls.
EFFECT: establishing the possibility of passing through the working channel of both liquid (electrolytes, molten metal metals), and gaseous (ionisation gas) conducting mediums.
