SUBSTANCE: invention relates to time distribution in communication networks, and more specifically to synchronisation in digital television distribution network, and enables to reduce requirements on network infrastructure, particularly avoiding the need for dedicated networks. The invention discloses a node for facilitating time distribution in digital television distribution networks, which comprises an interface, a clock for establishing local time and a time-locked loop. The interface is configured for connecting said node to at least one neighbouring node over an isochronous transport link for transmission and reception of repetitive frames containing time information. The time-locked loop is configured to, based on remote time information received via the interface and local time information, synchronise said clock to the clock of at least one neighbouring node.

EFFECT: invention facilitates that the node, or a corresponding synchronous network comprising nodes according to the concept of the invention, is more insensitive to network delays.
