FIELD: data processing and transmission.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to remultiplexing transport streams for regions of a single-frequency network (SFN) in digital television broadcasting (DVB) networks. Disclosed is a method of adding time mark (TM) packets containing metadata into a MPEG-2 transport stream transmitted over a broadcast network to provide a deterministic transport stream, comprising the following steps: providing data streams from at least one source, wherein streams contain payload packets referred to by common 1PPS (pulse per second) reference, said streams being introduced into at least one multiplexer; providing TMP as input data to each multiplexer, wherein each TDM has a plurality of time stamps per second measured relative to said 1PPS link, wherein each TDM has a value reflecting an absolute reference to the program clock (APCR) at the time of transmission, wherein the APCR is based on the epoch time, wherein the TMP packet further includes a reference for a program clock (PCR), a source reference for a program clock (OPCR), associated with said 1 PPS and UTC coordination seconds.
EFFECT: invention enables to use a common satellite communication channel to distribute transport streams between end users and between SFN regions in a ground network, which reduces distribution costs.
