SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method and devices for growing plants afloat. The method of growing plants afloat is that at the first stage of growth the plant roots are supported at a distance from the water reserve which is located under the plant. Supply of moisture to the plant is carried out through the intermediate space between the supporting device for the plant and the water reserve and from the upper side of the plant. At the first stage of plant growth the distance between the free lower end of the root and the water surface is from 1 to 5 cm. With growth of the plant its root system grows towards the water reserve. At the second stage of the plant growth its need for water is satisfied by the specified water reserve. This is achieved by use of supporting device which is made in the form of a panel floating on the water reserve, having openings for placement of the plants. This panel can be provided with recesses which are closed at their upper sides to reduce the area of contact with water and to create the closed chambers. The system for growing plants afloat comprises a pool, a supporting device located in the pool and floating on the water. The supporting device comprises a plurality of through openings into which the plant with the roots is placed with a small amount of substrate. The lower end of the plant is placed at a distance from the water surface near the opening for forming the intermediate space. The intermediate space in the method and in the devices has climatic conditions, rich in oxygen.

EFFECT: method and devices enable to create the optimum conditions for plant development, to prevent the development of diseases and moulding of plants.
