FIELD: instrumentation.

SUBSTANCE: method to measure mass of oil products in trench reservoirs makes it possible to perform measurements of level, density, temperature and mass of product in trench reservoirs using magnetostrictive sensors and control of distance between reservoir bottom and roof. At the same time control of the distance between the reservoir bottom and roof is carried out permanently with the help of installation of an additional mobile element onto magnetostrictive sensors with magnets, fixed to the reservoir roof, making it possible to track variation of reservoir shape in process of product storage, alarm high relative variation of trench reservoir height above the specified value and correct measurements of level, volume and mass of product during variation of geometric dimensions of the trench reservoir.

EFFECT: creation of method to measure mass of product in trench reservoirs during variation of geometric dimensions of reservoirs related to changes in weather, availability of ground water and soil shifts, with an error not exceeding value of permissible error.
