SUBSTANCE: invention relates to user interfaces for mobile devices, particularly column organisation of content. A mobile communication device configures and displays a user interface which includes a plurality of representations of content arranged according to a plurality of columns separated by an interval which permits switching between first and second columns upon detection of a gesture input via a touch screen of the mobile communication device. The first column is configured for vertical switching through each of the plurality of representations and the second column includes a filtered subset of the plurality of representations such that at least one of the representations is included in the first column and not the second column. Furthermore, the filtered subset of the plurality of representations included in the second column is also included in the first column.

EFFECT: providing a user with simple and faster navigation between content items in a mobile device.
