FIELD: data processing.

SUBSTANCE: computer system comprises a processor, a memory in which instructions executed by a processor are stored, in order to generate a display representation of the user interface, identify a filter criterion based on specifying a user filter input, perform a first filtering operation which applies a filter criterion to data in a plurality of data fields and selects a subset of data fields, which includes data satisfying a filter criterion, wherein the subset represents some, but not all, of the data field types, generate the filter menu representation on the user interface display, select one of the display elements, which corresponds to a specific one of the data field types based on the user input indication, perform the second filtering operation and modify the display representation of the user interface based on the filtered collection of data records.

EFFECT: technical result consists in reducing the amount of computational overhead required for data filtering, and in reducing the amount of memory required in a computer system.
