FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: filter comprises series-arranged optically transparent systems using thin optically transparent substrates and series of liquid crystal films, the opposite surfaces of which have electrode systems, the surfaces of said substrates having orientations, as well as a signal processing and control system. For each of the orthogonal polarisation components of radiation passing through the filter in corresponding filter areas when a given threshold is exceeded, lens systems are formed, which correspond to a cylindrical lens and are matched by the orientation with the corresponding polarisation component of radiation. At least one liquid crystal film for each polarisation component scatters radiation passing through it primarily in the vertical plane and/or within a given angle/angles relative to the vertical plane, and at least one liquid crystal film for each polarisation component scatters radiation passing through it primarily in the horizontal plane and/or within a given angle/angles relative to the horizontal plane. For each filter area which scatters external optical radiation exceeding a given threshold, for each polarisation component of said radiation, a generating system applies control potential across the corresponding electrodes, the values of which may significantly vary.

EFFECT: reduced radiation loss.
